BeAdapt addresses the growing climate insurance gap in European agriculture, particularly for small and vulnerable farms exposed to droughts, 
floods and extreme weather. The project’s objective is to improve access to parametric insurance solutions by integrating satellite data, on-field devices and blockchain-based records to ensure transparent, automated and trusted compensation mechanisms. This approach reduces the cost and complexity of claim validation, creates adaptive premium models, and links insurance benefits with farmers’ adoption of climate-smart practices. To achieve this, BeAdapt combines technological innovation with a participatory, human-centric process. Farmers and rural communities are engaged through co-design workshops, training and pilot testing to ensure usability and uptake of the solutions. Insurers, regional authorities, research centres and farmer associations collaborate to establish a replicable model that strengthens dialogue across stakeholders. Expected results include a blockchain-enabled insurance system tested in pilot regions, increased insured agricultural surface, improved data on climate-related losses and adaptive practices, and enhanced cooperation between insurers, policymakers and communities. The project is designed for replication and scaling across the EU, contributing directly to the objectives of LIFE-2025-SAP-CLIMA by promoting innovative financial and technological tools, empowering vulnerable farms, and building long-term resilience and adaptive capacity in agriculture.
